We welcome students as young as 4 years old. Whether your child is just beginning or you're looking for classes as an adult, we have programs designed for students of all experience levels.

No prior martial arts experience is required to get started at WVMA! We welcome all skills, beginner to advanced and have a great student-instructor ratio with instructors who are experienced in helping beginners feel comfortable, build confidence, and learn at their own pace from day one.

New students should bring comfortable athletic clothes, a water bottle, slip-on shoes. Most importantly, make sure to bring your awesome selves ready to train, learn and have fun!

Our programs combine traditional martial arts with practical self-defense, fitness, and personal development. Taking the skills from styles such as traditional Okinawan Karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and kickboxing, students learn to build confidence, discipline, respect, and real-world skills in a structured and fun environment.

Yes! WVMA does offer family discounts for every additional family member who enrolls, making it easier for the family to train together.

WVMA does not charge for testing or belt fees. Earning ranks is a major part of training in the martial arts. We believe students should earn their rank through dedication and hard work, not by paying additional fees.

We recommend students train twice a week, which we like to call “the sweet spot.” This provides enough consistency in training for steady progress while also accommodating for other daily activities like school, work and other schedules. WVMA is also flexible with all schedules to fit busy families.

The first rule of self-defense is “don’t get hit” and that starts with self awareness. Students learn how to carry themselves with confidence, recognize potentially unsafe situations, communicate assertively, and develop the skills to protect themselves when necessary.
